A TEACHERble Moment on Grandma’s Food

Which food, when you eat it, instantly transports you to childhood?

Grandma wakes up early
And makes her way to the kitchen,
It’s that time of the year where she prepares those famous dishes.

When Thanksgiving visits Mississippi
Grandma greets her with collard greens,
With ham and turkey,
With cornbread dressing,
And macaroni and cheese.

The Thanksgiving plate sends me 15 years back,
It’s safe to say Grandma just has it like that!

I feel like a child again,
All nestled in bed
Hearing the music of pots and pans.

Feeling the excitement
Of gathered family and friends,
Feeling the moment of being a kid.
