Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?
I keep my eyes on what’s ahead, Not rushed by fear Not ruled by dread. My thoughts reach far beyond today, I plan, I pray, I pave my way. I think of growth, of seeds I sow, Of quiet strength the years will grow. I know Each choice I make, both small and wise, Is building dreams before my eyes. I honor where I’ve been before, But I don’t live behind that door. The past has shaped me, taught me well, Yet I refuse to let it dwell.
My name is Erykah Gray, but most people know me as Miss Gray. I hail from the charming town of Centreville in Southern Mississippi. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in English from The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg and a Master of Arts in Literature from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Today, I’m a proud doctoral student at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, because I believe that learning is a lifelong journey—and I’m passionate about being on that path. Teaching isn’t just what I do; it’s who I am. I love speaking, writing, and inspiring others to find their voice. Every day in my classroom, I strive to make learning exciting and meaningful while helping my students grow into confident, inspired thinkers ready to take on the world. Here, I plan to do the same.
