A TEACHERble Moment: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

A TEACHERble Moment: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

What makes a good leader? Great leadership does not announce itself. Instead, it reveals itself over time through sacrifice. Through clarity. Through an unrelenting commitment to the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the clearest examples of this kind of leadership. On this day,… Continue reading

A TEACHERble Moment: What if Black Inventors Uninvented Their Genius?

A TEACHERble Moment: What if Black Inventors Uninvented Their Genius?

If you could un-invent something, what would it be? What if we uninvented the light? If Lewis Latimer gathered his filamentNo more glow for you.Progress would squint in the dark Afraid of what it couldn’t see. What if Granville T. Woods gave the signal For his signals to come home?Distance would become danger againTime would forget how… Continue reading

    Today’s TEACHERble Moment

Can you share a positive example of where you’ve felt loved? Yesterday, I was recognized as Teacher of the Month. This is the second time I’ve received this honor, and it’s always a great feeling to know that the work you’re doing is seen and appreciated. Like anyone, there are days when I’m not as… Continue reading

    Today’s TEACHERble Moment

    Today’s TEACHERble Moment

Today’s lesson is simple: Do one thing that makes you happy. Not tomorrow. Not when the schedule clears. Today.  As a teacher, I’m great at grading papers, meeting deadlines, and pouring into everyone else; however, sometimes I forget to give myself extra credit.  Consider this your gentle reminder written on the board in permanent marker:… Continue reading

About Me

My name is Erykah Gray, though many know me as Miss Gray. I’m from Centreville, a small town in southern Mississippi that will always feel like home. I earned my bachelor’s degree in English at The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg and later completed a Master of Arts in Literature at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. I am now continuing my journey as a doctoral student at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

I believe learning is a lifelong journey that continues to shape who we are. Teaching is not simply what I do; it is part of who I am. I am passionate about speaking, writing, and creating spaces where voices can be found and valued. In my classroom, each day holds new possibility as I guide students to grow into confident, curious thinkers ready to step into the world with purpose.

Through this space, I hope to share that same sense of inspiration beyond the classroom walls
