A TEACHERble Moment on Countries

What countries do you want to visit?

I look at my country, the United States of America, and things aren’t exactly great, I don’t care to immerse myself into politics because the greatest law of this land and all land will forever be of God’s, but as a citizen here in my country,  I can say that things are not good. 

Don’t get me wrong, I love my country, and I’m sure you love yours too, but things have changed and are changing in ways that affect most people in an unfair manner, so traveling and visiting another country offers a bit of an escape, I suppose.

I appreciate learning about the history and seeing the culture of each country. I have only traveled to Mexico, the Cayman Islands, and Jamaica and thoroughly enjoyed my time with the natives, learning of their culture, hearing their stories, and seeing the beauty in their land; however, there are still numerous countries on my list that I wish to visit.

Morocco

Italy

Belize

These are the countries that I am certain I wish to visit. Naturally, my list will update.

My name is Erykah Gray, but most people know me as Miss Gray. I hail from the charming town of Centreville in Southern Mississippi. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in English from The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg and a Master of Arts in Literature from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Today, I’m a proud doctoral student at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, because I believe that learning is a lifelong journey—and I’m passionate about being on that path. Teaching isn’t just what I do; it’s who I am. I love speaking, writing, and inspiring others to find their voice. Every day in my classroom, I strive to make learning exciting and meaningful while helping my students grow into confident, inspired thinkers ready to take on the world. Here, I plan to do the same.

    I am from the United States. A historical fact is that manifest destiny was the belief that settlers had a right to expand across North America. I learned this from a history course years ago. For some reason, I never forgot it. The countries that I have been to are England, New Zealand, and Greece.

      Thank you for sharing! I remember learning about this in U.S History. It’s wonderful how some facts stick with us! Your travels sound amazing—England, New Zealand, and Greece are all so interesting. I’m sure these were all very special experiences !

    I was born and bred in NY, so I am American as well. I have been to Japan. I studied Japanese for a bunch of years and was able to get us around when we visited years ago. I have forgotten a lot of the language already as I have not been practicing speaking or reading.

    I would like to visit India. I work with many Indians and it looks like a nice place to visit. I like Indian food and it would be fun to see the sights and experience the culture there.

    I would encourage you to visit Israel. We have been there many times and it is a beautiful place with ancient sights and great people. It is probably a good idea to wait until the conflict with Iran is resolved but otherwise, add it to your list. In most places everyone speaks English and there is no need to worry about not knowing Hebrew or Arabic.

      Thank you for sharing! I haven’t visited NY yet, but I plan to someday. There’s so much there I want to explore;so many attractions! Kudos to you for studying Japanese; I’m sure it was a very enriching experience. I only speak English and Spanish but would love to take up the French language. India is definitely on my travel list. I’d love to see the Taj Mahal and Amber Palace. I’ve also heard the food there is absolutely delicious! I’ve never had Indian cuisine. Praying for everything transpiring in Israel. Would love to consider going for the religious and historical aspect for sure. Thank you so much!

    I am a citizen of the United States, born and raised in California, and I visited Seoul, South Korea, in September, 2001, with my Korean spouse of 49+ years.

How wonderful and lovely that you and your spouse have been to Seoul, South Korea! I’ve never been, but I’m blown away by the palaces they have there. Quite breathtaking. Would love to visit!

        If you ever get a chance to visit South Korea, the food choices in restaurants are many and all delicious.

    Oh, and the greatest moment in history, to me, is The American Revolution, that started in 1775. We won our freedom from England and adopted The Constitution of the United States after much debate and settling on the three branches of government. The Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of government were designed as check points to ensure that no one branch would dominate the governance of America.

It is important to have a government committed to safeguarding freedoms and rights. For current and future generations.

    I migrated from the Philippines, and the USA is now my home. I recently returned to visit the Philippines and explored islands I had never seen before. I enjoyed the food, the beautiful beaches, and the company of my relatives.

    The Philippines was colonized by the Spaniards for 333 years, which is why many Filipinos have Spanish last names.

    Great choices! A lot of those are on my list. I’m also in the United States, but I’ve only been to Canada, so far. Ireland, Italy and Sicily, Norway, Japan, Egypt, England, Finland, and Scotland are a few on my list.
