A TEACHERble Moment on My Love

Write about your first crush.

‘Twas my love was beautiful to many.
I called her Lotus,
Or perhaps Lily,
And I was watered.

This was love and nothing silly.
For she Rose
With a peculiar pleasure,
Reminding me how Bleeding Hearts
Could grow in any weather.

My Love would put me in a Daisy.
And though she was not Violet
No, she was not violent,
I could never forget.

Our love was so rich.
Even the Marigolds were jealous.

Sometimes I’d laugh at her.
Oh! My little Lavender,
Oh! My little Sunflower,
What seeds have you grown now?

Because you’ve planted in me
The most beautiful flower there is,

Love.

  1. Those specific reasons why you chose each flower comprise a nice critical thinking lesson for a teacher

    1. I love your thoughts! In the past, I’ve had students to analyze a poem of mine. I haven’t done this in my last two years of teaching. This may change. Thank you so much for the idea!✨✨

      1. Poems can be tricky for exams though with all the different interpretations.

      2. Yes! Have to stick to basic poetic devices or citing textual evidence. Sometimes the theme is easy to locate as well.
