A TEACHERble Moment

Class is now in session.

And today’s valuable lesson,
Is a TEACHERble Moment,
On all the components
Of a great teacher.

So take out your paper and pen,
As I begin,
To answer this question
Using textual evidence.

Good teachers will teach,
Great teachers will teach and learn as well,
For there are times when even a teacher may fail.

Good teachers will lead,
Great teachers will lead and follow,
Because they are not afraid to swallow
Pride in exchange for the growth of tomorrow.

Good teachers will say “Yes”,
Great teachers will say “Yes” and “No”,
To teach students the World will not always respond as they may see so.

Good teachers will listen,
Great teachers will listen and understand,
Hearing not just words
But seeing the dreams behind them
Encouraging promising hope with each gentle hand.

Good teachers will correct,
Great teacher will correct with patience,
Transforming errors into stepping stones
To direct a next generation.
