What would you change about modern society?
Not all changes are beneficial, nor are all damaging; however, change is inevitable, to say the least.
In observing modern society, it has taken a slight turn from all my expectations. Entitlement prevails, and it is a phenomenon I find to be fundamentally problematic. Although I recognize and respect the value of efficiency with some changes we have come to discover, my concern lies in the principle of hard work—it has scattered, shattered, and vanished in a snap of Thanos.
I do not mean to imply that individuals in today’s society lack the ethic of hard work, as many do; however, reflecting on hard work seems to drift away with the use of Artificial Intelligence, also known as AI. This is something I would for certain change.
With the assistance of Artificial Intelligence, which lacks true intelligence, most people in modern society have become dependent on AI technology. I’m a teacher, and one example is education. In most cases, it has changed for the worse. Math problems are solved with the snap of a photo for apps programmed with AI. Scratch work has been eliminated. Essays can now be produced in seconds, whereas I have spent days striving to create a well-crafted paper. I’m sure you can relate.
AI does the thinking, comprehension, and information is scarcely retained, for most. Rather than reading or researching, AI is prompted, the response is copied and pasted, it’s always eligible to detect, and the work is not easy.
I can recall days when AI was a figment of our imagination. Movies portrayed it to be scary, and it is just that.
Artificial intelligence has infiltrated transportation, residential appliances, retail, and social media, to name a few. I contend that, with modifications and reprogramming, AI must be strictly regulated and used with the utmost consideration. If this does not occur, there is a considerable risk that its application will become increasingly uncontrollable.
