A TEACHERble Moment: Needed Conversation

Who would you like to talk to soon?

You never answer calls
Yet your number hasn’t changed,
Often we would talk
But instead we’ve grown estranged.

I still hear your articulation
Through ceased conversation,
I’ve tried calling you
So we can talk soon.

So much I long to say
Many things you need to hear,
I hope to speak soon
Deliver a message quite clear.

I’d like to talk soon
To the old me,
Tell her all that I am
All I have come to be.

I’d like to talk soon
To who I was once yesterdays
I called old me again
Phone went ringing right away.

I left a voicemail for the old me
I hope she listens
Because I listened to her,
A newer me has risen.

  1. This piece resonated so deeply with me. The way you’ve captured the feeling of wanting to reconnect with your past self is both haunting and healing. I especially loved the metaphor of calling the ‘old me’ it’s such a gentle yet powerful reminder of how far we’ve come, and how important it is to honor every version of ourselves. Thank you so much for sharing!✨
